I would say, sadly, that the Donkey Kong Country series joins other great Nintendo IPs into the grave. Namely because Nintendo is superstitious with loaning out their IPs to third party (second party) developers.

I can understand wanting a different DK experience. I’ve been waiting for a new Fzero game since 2008 (Fzero 99 doesn’t count imo)

If it's not Zelda, Mario or Kirby, they have all but abandoned them in favor of Splatoons, Animal Crossing and Pikmins (nothing against those games, but they struggle to really interest me in any sort of way and feel more like a Kidz Bop to Call of Duty, Sims, and Super Market PC shovelware).
