  • Why can't Nintendo get Battle Mode right?

Why the #$#% is Mario Kart 8's original Battle Mode Back?????? Now, they did make some improvements to it like choosing more courses with big areas and including Big Donut. Mario Kart World's battle mode is better than the original Mario Kart 8's battle mode, by a smidge. But like, the prep for a colonoscopy is better than the original Mario Kart 8's battle mode. That's not saying a lot.... why can't they get this right?

I wouldn't say it's as bad as Mario Kart 8's rendition of the mode, but it certainly lacks compared to the "fixed" version in Deluxe. That said, the simplicity and chaos of Mario Kart Wii, Double Dash, and 64's battle mode is what made people like myself fans of the battle mode. It seems a little tone deaf on Nintendo's part to perpetually fix something that isn't broke, but they are insistent on this "tracks as battle courses" concept, unfortunately.

Some. Usually with friends... I have been racing on World rather a lot lately, however.

I have my reservations, but I had them for 8, 7, Wii, DS, really every version since Double Dash which grew upon 64 in every shape and form possible, while the others have struggled to maintain that growth and wander around with novel concepts too much (realizing that the double character gimmick in DD was itself a novel concept).

sometimes, but not as often as I like. I have to be gentle on Gamecube as the price for them was increased of late and I don't have a stockpile of the system
