Joining the team:

if you would like to join the team, please post a general application post here in this thread, explaining why you would be a good pick for the position. Doesn't have to be lengthy, but a good introduction of yourself, your experience or influence with forums and video gaming in particular, would be helpful.

Responsibilities:

Moderators - deleting SPAM (stupid pointless annoying messages), infracting users who post SPAM, approving new users, and generally being a guide for new users, introducing them to the site, answering questions and being an otherwise outstanding community member. You may also have to help community organizers and news team members in creating content or helping with tournaments and events.

Community Leaders - community leaders will be tasked with maintaining world records, events, and tournaments. They will host lobbies, rooms for official site events. General weekend availability is required.

News / Content Creators - will be tasked with posting Nintendo and Mario Kart World-eccentric news to the News Channel, and helping community leaders with hosting of lobbies or organizing threads on the forums as needed.


Perks

Moderators: $10 Nintendo eShop stipend per month.

Community Leaders: $20 Nintendo eShop stipend per quarter

News and Content Creators: $1 Nintendo eShop stipend per month, per approved news article (max $30 per month/1 a day).

I am applying to be a general moderator. A little bit of background: I have been playing video games since I was literally in diapers. I always loved racing video games which lead me to playing Mario Kart 64 as a child. I eventually joined the old mariokartwii.com forum under the name Fzerowii. My favorite video game of all time is Fzero GX.

I ran several Fzero forums in the late 2000s- early 2010s. While they are now defunct, I have experience running multiple forums and moderating on them. There is always spam so I have experience handling that. I have no problem banning members as well. I love helping new people out (as shown in several of my posts) and I generally enjoy being here. I have grown up a lot since those forum days, I was only in my late teens then and I’m now almost 33. I currently work professionally doing database work and using SQL databases so I do have some technical experience. I play Mario kart world often and am very active on this forum so I believe I would be a good fit for general moderator.

I would like to apply for the role of Moderator. I am indifferent of location, as I love the site and the small (but growing) community we have here. I am 28 years old and have moderated over the years in places such as NintendoLife in the past, but took a break from the roles there as I was in college (since graduated). I have played Nintendo games, and Mario Kart in particular for several years, dating back to the days of Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Kart DS, so I have a lot of knowledge of the community and the game experience the site is aiming to cater to.

I will apply for News staff. I have worked on college newspapers and am a frequent user of reddit and run many subreddits on nintendo products. I probably wouldn't produce enough Mario Kart World content on a daily basis, however. Weekly? Yes. I could dive into many different aspects of the game and explore some more nuanced things like rankings and reviews, much like the ranking article produced last month.

I would like to be considered for Moderator --Super or General--. I have previously moderated at GamersLoft and Nintendoland many moons ago, both of which were owned by Sly, so for this information I give to you, LynX. I haven't moderated in many years, but also realize that Sly hasn't run a forum in many years, either. So, with this in mind, I hope you still consider me for a position as I am excited to see the site grow, and maybe, get some of that old Mario Kart Wii nostalgia back! I know that site ended very badly between Clanners and Sly, but I would love for the community to come back together after years of fragmentation. Although only one could dream, but it's been wonderful catching up with old friends from a decade ago.
